i can not believe caleb is 2 weeks old. i feel like i have been in some sort of time warp. we have just been hanging out at home. its been nice to relax but i am getting a little stir crazy.
as much as i love my son, i am already learning motherhood is not easy!!! right now he wants to eat eat eat!! every 3 hours is a good thing but sometimes its 1 or 2.
the Lord is teaching me a lot about self sacrifice and how deep His love is for me!
yesterday was the first day with just caleb and me. i learned quickly how to get creative in my daily routine, like nursing while making my lunch, letting him sleep in a bassinet in the bathroom so i can shower, etc... these days sleeping and showering have become a luxury!
my wonderful friend lindsay came and spent the day with us today. she is one of those girlfriends that i can talk to about anything and everything for hours!! i love her and am always thankful for our times together.

father's day
we celebrated father's day last night at the church house. kristin & phillip made a wonderful dinner...steak, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes and more...YUMMY! i was on top of things this year and bought father's day cards end of may. one problem, i did not think that baby caleb would be here yet, so wes's card said "for the father-to-be"
but of course, he got the best gift ever, a son! right now we are having a lazy sunday. i am watching a chick flick (my best friends wedding) while both of my boys are snoozing away.
i just wanted to take some time to brag on the father of my son.
wes is truly a selfless hubby and daddy! since the moment caleb was born, he has gone non- stop...taking care of baby and mommy! labor, delivery and motherhood is tough, but if you are a father like wes, you will be just as exhausted! he loves it though... never complaining or passing off jobs (such as dirty diapers, etc). i could NOT do it without him!
so for his very first father's day, he deserves a looooong nap and day off!
i praise you Lord for the gift of such a wonderful husband, best friend and now the father of my little boy!

My buddy
So over the past 8 days, Wes and Caleb have become the best of friends. One of Caleb's favorite places to nap is on his daddy's chest. Funny thing.. the past three days they have worn matching colored outfits... Aren't they cute?

what is going on?
So this past Thursday I started feeling a little nauseated. Wes and I left the college bible study earlier than normal b/c I wasn't feeling well. Starting at about midnight my body decided to get rid of all that was within me. Every hour until about 9am! FUN!! Finally Wes called the doctor for me and they told me to go to the hospital to get fluids.
So I go check in on the Labor & Delivery floor and they totally admit me as if I were about to have a baby! They did the monitors for my contractions and baby's heart beat and gave me an IV. I asked the nurse if she could loosen one of the monitors and she said it was tight b/c I was having a contraction. WHAT? I had NO idea. She also said they were 4 minutes apart. So part of me is thinking...YES!! I am gonna have this baby and get away with not feeling contractions! Anyway, they checked me and said I was dilated only about a cheerio (so nothing to get excited about). Basically I had a GI virus and the dehydration was making me have contractions.
So for the last few days I have been on the couch or bed sleeping and resting.
I will say the scare was a good trial run for me. Now I have a much better idea of how things will go when I really do go in to labor. Which by the way, due date is less than 3 weeks! And my husband has already proven to be an awesome support when I become unraveled! I am so glad God gave him to me!
My mom told me that my cousin had the same "GI bug" and that 36 hours later she was in labor, so I better make sure my bags are packed! Well they are!!
I know that every mom-to-be must go through this waiting and wondering phase her last few weeks, it is just a little strange. Makes it hard to "plan" your day or next days events wondering if you will be in labor or not.
So on that note, continue to lift a sister up!
